GF Lunchbox Bites

February 03, 2017 0 Comments

These healthy little Gluten Free, chocolatey, multi-vitamin packed bites will make your small people the kings of the playground, kids will flock to them. The only downside, you may have to cater for ALL the kids in the playground (or the workplace — we're all kids at heart, just sometimes we have to wear a suit). They take around 20 minutes to whip up and the kids can get involved when it comes to rolling them into tightly packed bundles of joy, although if you want them to make it to the lunchbox, maybe keep tiny fingers occupied with building forts in the garden. :)
Spirulina is one of natures most nourishing provisions, packed with vitamins, minerals and protein — 60g per 100g, that's more than steak, although eating 100g would be a pretty tall ask — the only downside is if you use too much the taste and smell can be a tad off-putting. Add Beetroot and Cacao, noting that there is no added sugar, the sweetness is all natural and comes from the Dates, makes these the best bite size snack.
Quick grab the Spirulina, Beetroot and Cacao in our shop and be making them in a couple of days, then let us know how you go by tagging us in your photos.

Beetroot
Beetroot contains betaine. Betaine is a methyl donor, studies (see product page) suggest that methyl donors may improve mood, energy, well-being, alertness and concentration. Studies also suggest that beetroot may be anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, reduce cholesterol, lower blood pressure, aid liver and immune health, help brain injury prevention and enhance athletic performance.
Spirulina (Multi-Vitamin)
Spirulina was a staple for the ancient Aztecs who scrapped it from the top of lakes and made it into cakes as they dried it. More recently, Nasa has been using Spirulina as a staple on space missions for nutrition, water filtration, oxygen production and crop yield. Not only does it contain a host of vitamins and minerals but it also contains 60% protein. Spirulina is quite literally Natures Multi-vitamin.
Cacao & Spirulina (Immunomodulation)
Strengthening, balancing, supporting and regulating the immune system, optimising immune response (great for winter).
Cacao (Magnesium)
An essential mineral, absorbed in the gut and is important for energy, muscle health and bone health.
Cacao (Anandamide)
Is a fatty acid neurotransmitter. The name is taken from the Sanskrit word 'ananda', which means "joy, bliss, delight".
Cacao (Theobromine)
Similar to caffeine, it is a vasodilator, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, diuretic and can act as a stimulant. Studies suggest it aids the absorption of the polyphenols in Cacao.
