Beetroot Bread

Who bakes on Saturdays?
With lots of little mouths to feed or just a hankering for a healthy bread with a twist, this Homemade Beetroot Bread covers all the bases. Little people think it's naughty as the beetroot makes it a bit sweet, and we big people indulge knowing that we are all getting some wholesome goodness, nourishing us from the inside out.
Is it Gluten Free, no, no it's not. Is it white flour, yes. But sometimes, you just feel like a yummy loaf of bread! And the bread in the supermarket isn't made for that! It's made to be preserved, it has to live on the shelves until little hands come along and whisk it away to sit either side of some cheese and ham, or peanut butter, or other tasty filling. All those additives in the bread are there to stabilise, preserve and fill, but they don't all agree with us. I know that if i eat store purchased bread my stomach shouts at me for the rest of the day / 2 days. I have a sneaky suspicion that the combination of rancid fats (being either; sunflower oil / canola oil / (heated) olive oil), plus the raft of other ingredients they throw in, are the little rascals our bodies doesn't like so much.
The base ingredients for this loaf are simply; flour, water, sugar (honey/maple syrup) and yeast — no other nasties — then we just modified it by adding some of The Grove Organic Beetroot and Organic Reishi goodness.
The benefits of making bread at home far surpasses the 15 minutes of your attention it takes to make it — in our opinion anyway — you know what's in it, you know how fresh it is, you can taste the goodness, your house smells great, and you get to lather it with butter (obviously this isn't so good for you if you do it every day, but in moderation, mentally we feel complete). Plus, in the hour and half that it rises; we can go puppy walking, or jump in the shower, or go for a run, or to the gym, or yoga, or, or, or... We love it! We hope you do too. Let us know how you go, we'd love to hear your feedback.
