Lucuma Ghosts

October 25, 2017 0 Comments

We are sporting some Halloween magic here at The Grove HQ, and these little ghostly beasties are perfect as party snacks for us large kids and the small ones too. The Lucuma ice-cream center is full of healthy goodness, using The Grove Organic Lucuma Powder and The Grove Organic Mesquite Powder all the way from Peru, where they grow supporting fair trade co-ops and in turn the local community. Mesquite brings a beautiful honey-maple sweet flavour and the Lucuma adding some more natural sweetness. The centers are then coated in a sweet, crispy white coconut shell and given tiny red eyes using The Grove Organic Beetroot Powder which has been used as a food and fabric dye for centuries, The Grove beetroot is grown and processed organically using 100% renewable energy.
Did you know that Lucuma ice-cream is a popular dish in Peru, which makes sense since the Lucuma fruit is one of the their most revered native fruits, a national fruit even.
Healthy, sustainable and fair. The best way to celebrate Halloween with friends and family — no toxins in sight.

Lucuma (β-carotene)
Lucuma contains β-carotene, which gives its flesh the beautiful orange colour. β-carotene is converted into Vitamin A by the body. Vitamin A is able to enhance the immune system but also supports the health of the eyes as well as teeth and cell health (skeletal / soft tissue).
Lucuma (Vitamin B3 (niacin))
Vitamin B3 helps cell health, as well as with the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats and proteins (and alcohol), it also helps with the synthesis of fatty acids and cholesterol (studies showing it raises good and lowers bad cholesterol).
Beetroot contains betaine. Betaine is a methyl donor, studies (see product page) suggest that methyl donors may improve mood, energy, well-being, alertness and concentration. Studies also suggest that beetroot may be anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, reduce cholesterol, lower blood pressure, aid liver and immune health, help brain injury prevention and enhance athletic performance.
Cashews are a great source of vitamins and minerals, 100g of Cashews contain the following RDAs of 2 key compounds; 31% copper (anti-oxidant), 20% magnesium (working with copper to provide bone strength, as well as with melanin and elastin to aid flexible joints) 17% phosphorus and 12% vitamin K (essential for building strong bones).
Adaptogen (Mushroom Complex)
Helping the body adapt to stress.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is high in natural saturated fats which increase the bodies healthy cholesterol (known as HDL) which helps promote heart health, lowering the risk of heart disease. It also helps to convert the LDL “bad” cholesterol into good cholesterols.
Maple Syrup
Maple syrup is one of the most natural forms of sweetener. Real Maple Syrup that is, which is tapped straight from the tree with no processing.
